What's going on at the Dead End in 2010......
Updated 4/01/2010

HAuNTcon is almost here!!!!!
The Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow and Conference, or HAuNTcon as we all know it better, for 2010 will be held in Kissimee, just outside Orlando, April 28 - May 3.
April 28th - May 3rd, 2010
Ramada Orlando Celebration Resort & Convention
6375 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy.
Kissimmee, FL 34747
(877) 467-5786
For details as they develop within the event, please visit the official HAuNTcon website:
There are also discussion threads on the forum about the event, and possible meeting places; so if you're a Florida Haunter who's lucky enough to be going to HAuNTcon, check it out and meet your fellow Florida Haunters!
Unfortunately, I don't think I will be going due to a lot of reasons, mainly work and lack of funds... but I encourage everyone to go if you can, especially our Florida Haunters since it's right in our back yard this year. Slots are filling up for the make and takes and demos, so check out the site and the schedules for details.
Aside from that, I really have no news to report from the Dead End. Not much has been going on in the way of Halloween prep here yet since I've been trying to catch up on housekeeping and yard work. Gotta love Spring cleaning!

Happy New Year everyone! The past 4 months have flown by and now the build season is coming up fast. 2010 brings with it some changes here at the Dead End, most of them happening in my personal life - some bad (divorce), some good (new love) - but I'm optimistic about the haunt this year. I know it won't bear any huge changes, but there will be some upgrades and a few new props here and there. I have a long laundry list of things that need to be fixed and/or improved, and a few things that need complete revamps. My incredibly supportive man has a prop in his mind (skull throne) and I'm really stoked to have someone who wants to be a part of my crazy obsession. It helps too, that he is creative and artistic. :-) I JUST got all the crypt pieces put up into the attic last week - and managed to break a few more pieces of the foam that is the outer façade of it. That led me to decide to give it a fresh new look, but that will be a project for 2011. I'm taking a break from fooling with the crypt this year as it's a hassle to deal with. Helena may see a new set-up and location though, so we'll see. Since I won't be hosting a party this year, and subsequently won't need to decorate inside the house, I will be concentrating solely on the front yard display and making sure everything is fixed and looking the way it should. I'm looking forward to having a much less stressful Halloween this season and a lot more fun working on it.
