For 2006, I wanted a witch theme, so I decided to make some little potion bottles to go with my invitations.  I ordered a bunch of these little bottles and some cork stoppers from American Science & Surplus.

I used Microsoft Publisher to create some labels.  I just made a small label and copied it like 50 times on each sheet and printed them out.  I found a dingbat font that had some neat outlines with pictures for the outline, then placed a  "Charming" font in the center which read "Eye of Newt".

I soaked the pages in some tea for about an hour.
Then I laid them out on towels to dry.  When they were completely dry, I cut
them apart into separate labels.

I brushed plain old white glue on the backs of each label then stuck them on the bottles.  I filled each bottle with whole black peppercorns since they look like they could be dried newt eyes.

‘Tis the Season of the Witch

Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Double, double, toil and trouble;
Fire, burn; and cauldron, bubble.

Join us in the haunt we dwell
To cast a most bewitching spell.
All are welcome, young and olde,
To see what magick will unfold.

Before you arrive plain-clothes clad,
ask yourself how you’ll feel waking up on a lily pad
Costumes are required dress code,
Unless you wish to become a toad..

Various fodder and brews will be laid out
And special treats for the children, without a doubt.
Music and games will be found,
So don’t delay, come on' round.

The spell begins on the 28th of October, at the 19th hour
And lasts as long as there is magickal power.
By all the powers of land and sea
As I will, so mote it be.

I wrote up my own little poem (shown Left) , then printed it out on some regular old printer paper and tea stained it like I did the labels.  When they were dry, I burned the edges of each page.

I made some small tags for the bottles as well that said "The Dead End 2006" and attached them with some twine wrapped around the necks of the bottles.  Again, these tags were tea stained and about the same size as the labels.

Then I made up another page, and had all the party particulars on it and tea-stained and burned it as well.  I rolled the bottle up in the 2 pages and tied it off with some twine.  Since the bottles are SO small, I mailed them.  I don't remember how much it was to mail those, I just took the to the post office and had them weigh them.  I put them in small manila envelopes.
