10/17/06: Finally got the columns done for the cemetery:

And the sign is almost done, just needs paint:

I got 2 of my 6 latest tombstones completed. The other 4 just need aging with some black paint.

_______

I used paint mixed with sand for the stone look. They are much better looking than the previous tombstones I made, plus they feel heavier and more sturdy.

I finally got a shot of the crypt with its new roof:

It'll look a lot better when I get some vines and moss on it.

My cemetery looks so naked. One of my neighbors was like, "WHEN are you going to put the rest of your stuff out??!! It looks naked out there!" Now that I finally have the fence columns done, I can get the fence up, then the rest of the stuff can go out there. One of my other neighbors told me that she had a friend with her in her car and they drove past so she could show her friend, but she said that it doesn't look right and then realized that I don't have all of it out yet. My next door neighbor is probably wishing I didn't go all out like this because his house went up for rent last month. I won't ease up with my stuff because I want to make sure I get neighbors who like it, not people who wouldn't wanna live next to a heathen freak like me. ;-) My NDN did say that it's "lookin' good" though while he was out working in the yard on Sunday. They will be missed, they are really good neighbors.

Here's a shot of part of what I have so far:

It really does look naked. And now for the fun shot from Saturday while we were out working on the columns. My 4.5 year old daughter decided to be funny:

My girl !! Ivy !! was in town for the weekend and had Emily posing in the cemetery. Ain't she cute?

Time to get back to work!

10/14/06: Whew! Time has FLOWN by these past few weeks. I got the witches done except for hair a couple of weeks ago.

Got the whole house covered with gossamer and other stuff except for the master bathroom, which I'll get to this week. The tombstones are out in the yard, along with the crypt that I rebuilt. I used OSB this time to attach the foam to for some extra weight and strength. Last year it got blown over a few times because of a passing hurricane and I had to tether it down to rebar. Blue ropes coming from it was pretty unsightly. I also cut everything in half and assemble it so that I can store it in the attic easier. It was a bitch trying to get all the pieces out of the attic with that attic ladder in the way.

Tonight the FCG goes out. I got my cauldron coated in Dry-Lok and painted with a base coat of paint last night.

It's shaped all stupid, but darkness is our friend. Today I will give it a nice black coat of paint and some spill marks down the sides and stuff. I also got all the invites out in the mail yesterday and had Taylor hand deliver all the ones for our neighbors on our street. Our invite list doubled this year with the addition of our whole street to the list. I figure maybe a quarter of them will actually show up.

I also tried on my costume that I ordered from Jeff at the Frighteners. *sigh* I've gained too much weight. I couldn't even zip the dang thing up. At least 5 pounds lost will do, otherwise I will have to fashion a costume from my old witch costume from like 10 years ago and some extra rag fabric. So needless to say, I am on a starvation diet for the next 2 weeks. Good thing I like V-8!

I have SO much still to do, and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed. The good thing is, that nobody but me knows what all I want to get done, so no one else will know if some of it doesn't get accomplished. And now I'd better get to work, the day is ticking away.........

9/19/06: Arrrr mateys! I hope all ye be havin' a merry 'talk like a pirate day'! Ok, that's the extent of my pirate speak, until next year when the theme will very likely be pirates here.

Yesterday evening, I started a new sign. It's just a little sign for my front door explaining the chaos in my house right now.

Also, yesterday I threw together some crude frames for the witches and started to mud my tree back together.

Today I added more mud to the tree, and started my invites for this year. The labels are soaking in tea now.

I have a lot on my agenda still to get accomplished for today, but I have a horrible sinus headache again today, and it's raining right now. The sun's shining too. Gotta love Florida. I keep getting sidetracked with other things, like fixing the rear window on my lift gate on my Suburban. My first time using JB Weld this morning, so I hope it goes well. Can't be any worse than it already is. I also stopped to fix the Polaris in the pool since the a section of the hose busted and had to be replaced. I walked out to get the mail and ended up spraying for weeds again too. I'm just finding it very difficult to concentrate and finish one project before I move on to something else.

9/17/06: Yesterday I added some treasure to my chest and some straps to the outside of it. I raided my daughter's toy box and took some old Happy Meal action figures and painted them gold and glued them in. I used one of those plastic champagne glasses that you see at weddings for the toast as a goblet and sprayed it gold and glued on some plastic beads. Then I threw a bunch of fancy gold. silver and bronze toned buttons in there. I spray painted a Mardi-Gras bead necklace white for some 'pearls'. I even put some of my old cheap-o jewelry in there. I really doubt anyone will notice the work I put into it since it will be at the bottom of my pool... but hey-- I'm all about the details, whether anyone can see them or not.

I bought some aluminum flashing yesterday on my daily trip to Home Depot so I could make some straps for the outside of the chest. I cut some pieces of it into 1.5 inch strips and spray painted it gold, then dabbed on some ebony wood stain to give it a more aged brass look. The flash makes it look all shiny and new; but in reality, it looks good and old.

I also decided it was time to get the witches' and Frank's heads ready for bodies.

9/14/06: Last night I finished building my treasure chest for my little scene I'll be doing in my pool. This morning I stained it a nice ebony color. It's a simple thrown together little chest, nothing fancy. I just kinda "winged it" using some old plywood that one of my good neighbors was going to throw out but thought of me instead. I'll be using some cheap plastic poker chips spray painted gold as the "treasure". (THANKS DAMIEN!!) It'll all be at the bottom of the pool, so it didn't have to be a work of art.

The little Blucky below will be fixed up and sunk to the bottom of the pool as well, along with this sign:

I also finished up the PunkinHead... he's my imitation of the famous PUMPKINROT scarecrow.

***************************************************************************************************************

9/12/06: I took a short break from props to finally paint the lower half of my dining room walls this afternoon. I bought some Ooops paint from home Depot for 5 bucks a gallon and one of the colors was a really dark brown. I decided it'd go well in my dining room, so I grabbed an old t-shirt and ragged it on the wall. Turned out pretty good IMHO. I installed the chair rail last month. I really like it. Here's pirate Blucky relaxing in the dining room.

************************************************************************************************************

9/08/06: Today I finished the new Frankenstein's Monster head I wanted to make. The old one was too darned HAPPY looking, so I figured I needed one that was more monster-ish. He was a lot of fun to make. The nose isn't quite right, but overall it looks wayyyyyy better than the happy head that's on the monster now.

************************************************************************************************************

9/05/06: The witches are DONE! Well, the heads anyway. I repainted Helga for a 3rd time and finished up Tabby's head today. I'm really happy with how Tabby turned out. Now I can move on to other things.

**************************************************************************************************************

9/01/06: I repainted Helga today due to a screw up on my part this morning. She actually looked better the first time I painted her. GRRRR....

***********************************************************************************************************

8/31/06: I finished up Helga the witch's head today. I am not wild about the paint job, but I am anxious to start a new project.
